Apple Partnering With Taylor Swift for New Music Lab Sessions in Retail Stores

Taylor Swift revealed today on Instagram that she will be the next partner in Apple's "Music Lab" sessions, which are available in Apple retail stores.


The Music Lab session will focus on learning how to remix the song "You Need to Calm Down," from Swift's upcoming album "Lover." According to Swift, these sessions will only be available in select Apple stores.

Similar to previous Music Labs, customers will be able to find out what inspired Swift to write the song, leading to the creation of their own version.

Apple in the past has partnered with Madonna and Billie Eilish on Music Lab sessions, which are available worldwide. Apple hasn't uploaded any official information on the sessions yet, but when it does the information should be available on Apple.com/today.

Taylor Swift’s ‘Reputation’ Rolling Out on Apple Music

After three weeks of retail and digital download exclusivity, Taylor Swift's latest album -- "Reputation" -- has started rolling out on Apple Music and Spotify in Australia and other countries, where it is already December 1, suggesting it will come to the U.S., Europe, and other countries as December 1 rolls around.

Swift had previously debuted four singles from Reputation on Apple Music, including Look What You Made Me Do, ...Ready For It?, Gorgeous, and Call It What You Want, but she kept the full 15-track album off of Apple Music and other services for the past three weeks.


Besides the previously-released singles, there were a few behind-the-scenes videos about the making of Reputation's music videos that were exclusive to Apple Music released a few weeks ago. With the launch, all of this content will be streamable on Apple Music on December 1. In the United States, we can likely expect to see "Reputation" available on Apple Music starting at 12:00 a.m. Eastern Time.


Swift and Apple have had a somewhat rocky relationship, with the artist in 2015 penning an open letter to Apple Music about the service's initial stance on refusing to pay royalties to artists during the three-month free trial period. Swift opposed this aspect of Apple Music, so she decided to keep her 2014 album "1989" off of Apple Music at the time.

Soon after the letter was publicized, Apple reversed course and began paying artists during this period of time when new subscribers are on the free trial of Apple Music. This eventually led to a closer relationship between Swift and Apple, with her music debuting on the service along with the launch of a series of Apple Music ads starring Swift that debuted throughout the spring of 2016.

Taylor Swift Shares ‘Reputation’ Behind-the-Scenes Videos on Apple Music

Behind-the-scenes videos for Taylor Swift’s upcoming “reputation” album are available exclusively on Apple Music, the singer announced on Twitter today.

There are several short films available to watch, covering personal footage and set design from the …Ready For It? video, and a montage of behind-the-scenes footage for Look What You Made Me Do. Apple Music also has music videos available for the two songs.



While Swift is sharing exclusive content on Apple Music, rumors suggest her new album will not be immediately available on the streaming service when it launches this Friday.

Swift is said to be planning to hold “reputation” from streaming services for at least a week after the album’s launch to promote album sales via iTunes and retail stores.

At the current time, several singles from the new album are streamable on Apple Music, including “Look What You Made Me Do,” “Gorgeous,” “…Ready For It?” and “Call It What You Want.” The full 15-track album can be pre-ordered on iTunes for $13.99.
